I take it that the female staffer had departed the scene before the gentleman's olfactory sense was engaged? This story must have prompted some terrific headlines: Politician's Perilous Proboscis! Given my "nose for news", Kathryn, I'll have to Google that story. Pardon my nasal digression, and on to your main point of the duration of elections, I think the relative shortness of your campaigns would appeal to virtually everyone here (except the advertising companies and news media outlets who stand to make a ton of revenue). At present, I imagine that most American voters have little interest in processing speeches, sound bites, or even bumper stickers. Tell John that I hope his Father's Day was grand, and the same to your dad!Peter T.
