Damn that sucks. I loved Jerry. This is the first I heard of it. I liked all of his music and acting too and when that song came out he did it for the Smoky and The Bandit movies. I was huge into truckers (wanted to be one myself) back then and I actually had a good friend (about Jerry's age) at that time named Wayne that was a long haul trucker and every year, just before the 4th of July, he would load his semi trailer with about 50-75 cases of Coors beer in Colorado (that he personally paid for) on an empty run home to Ohio and he would throw these monster parties complete with some awesome illegal fireworks from some unknown state and lot's of Coors beer...both of which were heavily frowned on around here back then. Everybody knew about his parties though and everybody came. Including our current Chief of Police. Of course Jerry's music was always played and Wayne had the finest rig around at the time. At the very least, equal to the one Jerry and Burt drove in the movie. It was always a spectacular and well run event. Wayne died several years ago, but I never forgot those good times. RIP Jerry, I'm sure you and Wayne have got lot's of storytellin' to do up there though!(Wayne talked me out of trucking as a career and I'm thankful to him for that too.)
