Popular Culture Does It Again
It never ceases to amaze me how pop culture can subsume subversive elements, turning them quickly into . . . more pop culture to be mass marketed. I've been following the site linked below ever since someone (Edlorah, I think?) posted the link months ago, waiting for the moment when the site's owner would get the "cease-and-desist" order, but now . . . http://garfieldminusgarfield.net/Will the subversive strips with Garfield left out still be as funny or interesting once bound in the pages of a mass-market book? Will that context change the way we read the strips?

PS: The bass and bluegill at Herring Lake have honored us with their presence at last. Big ones, too, comparitively speaking! Still no channel cats though, so it's off to the Shadgut store I go! I'll make it my mission to find them where they lurk! Even after all this time, there is one mighty stand of stickups I've yet to visit, and every day I think, "maybe tomorrow."
