I'm pretty sure it was only 1 heart attack, and he is a self-admitted bastard. He's said in a few interviews that he thinks it's from being short, from a small town, and having been jerked around a lot in his much younger days. I can relate (except for the short part), so I cut some slack in that area, especially given the amount he's given back via the Farm-Aid concerts and other endeavors.

I've followed him since the Scarecrow days and enjoy most of what he's done. I appreciate someone who wears his heart (and politics) on his sleeve, even if I don't always agree with him/her.

My favorite album of his is still "Mr. Happy Go Lucky" from around 1996. Really cool production, some great songs, and a break from a lot of the other stuff that was around at the time.

In keeping with the film conversation, he directed and starred in a film version of a Larry McMurtry story called "Falling From Grace" in the early 90's. Remarkably better than expected, although it has a real autobiographical feel to it. He's done a couple of other acting jobs since, but I haven't seen them.
