Reminiscing has always been something I enjoy doing.  I've been going back in a different sort of way lately.  It started when I scanned all of my mother's photos to archive them digitally.   I hadn't intended to do anything other than scan them but many were in need of restoration and so I got more involved with them than I'd intended.

After dragging them into Photoshop I usually begin by zooming in so I'm better able to apply the necessary fixes.  It's when I zoom in that the old photos come to life and you see things that would otherwise go unnoticed.  Sometimes it's something as simple as my old clock radio with the STP sticker beside my bed.  Other times it's an expression on my dad's face which seems to briefly bring him back to life.

Each photo takes me back to its own time for however long it takes to restore it, then I move on to another photo and another memory.

I only wish I had started this when my father was still alive as many of the photos have evoked questions only he could answer.  He was never one to talk much about his childhood but I imagine had I sat down with him and explored the photos together he would have had a lot to say.
