I have an older Mac Performa sitting here out-of-use for something like a decade now (and a really old Apple out in the garage). I enjoyed the Performa, but my brother-in-law (& computer geek/guru) talked us out of the Mac and into an Athlon with Windows XP.  It has worked fine all along and he is prettymuch avilable 24/7 to guide us through the muck.  But I look at this old Apple thinking, “There’s a Synthia in there and other stuff…and believing that the newer Macs are probably ugly cool.”  Also everybody I know (or, more, have read about) with a strong music or film background uses Mac.  So even though everything I’ve done on computer in a decade is on this rig, I’m thinking of getting my son an Apple laptop so he isn’t hobbled by PC in his musical journeys.  Then maybe he’ll take pity on his ol’ dad and help me get some tracks down on garageBand or the like once he gets the hang of it.  Expensive though, …yikes!   Unless, of-course, the college of his choice requires PC…or some such 21^st Century nonsense.
