Icon actually some good points

I really didn't find the review all that bad, and actually chuckled about his comments on the liner photos. I doubt if the author realizes that the majority of the material was written and even recorded quite a while ago, and under quite a bit of emotional duress. My hopes and expectations for the next album (which I also hope doesn't take nine years!) are in line with what Mr. Wilson was hoping for. While his expectations were biased by Triage as the last point of reference, mine arrive at the same point for other reasons.

Some time ago someone on this site asked David what sort of music he was currently most interested in. I remember the answer to be something along the lines of getting into hard rap/hip hop, which is evidenced by his work with Fishbone. I do like the harmonies on the new album, but would really love to hear some angrier stuff.

Listening to the newest radio interview (thanks Dan for posting the link – and damn all the people that keep outbidding me on ebay for the cd versions!) one hears David talk about how he felt he needed to get back into it. There truly is a void in the music industry right now, and some solid socially aware songwriting is much needed and appreciated. However, I did not get the impression from hearing him say that that he felt this album accomplished that goal completely. This could go a couple ways - one would be that NFU goes off sans DB with Will at the helm (as David has hinted at), with DB then going in a new direction. Or it could be the whole crew with the new sound...

Am I alone in this?
