I was listening to Pere Ubu's "The Modern Dance" this morning. It was their classic recording from 1978, re-released on CD by Geffen Records in 1994. If you listen to the lyrics of Modern Dance itself, you will of course hear the "mandra, mandra" after each verse..hmmm. Anyway this link has the complete lyrics; enjoy. Amazing sounds on that record, and some great atonal stuff; don't know how they did it. I especially like the broken and rolling bottles on Sentimental Journey; very heartwarming....kinda brings a tear to my eye.
I saw 'em live in Pittsburgh in 1987. One of the best shows I've ever attended. David Thomas was in rare form; paced and gyrated nervously before they erupted into NonAlignment Pact to kick off the show. He also "played" the trombone that night. Very high energy.
If you don't already have this CD...GET IT! You can order it from the link below.
Enjoy
