Icon The worst film director in the world!

So, who would you choose?

There is a guy who seems to have been given this title and I think if you google "worst director in the world" his name will come up...a lot! His name is Uwe Boll. There are even comics about how bad he sucks:

and I think he is overall the lowest rated director on IMDB, which I think helped earn him this title. Somehow, he beat Michael Bay but Bay seems to be paying the right people or something (in reality I've only seen parts of a couple Bay films so I probably should not knock him...maybe there were other parts in his films that were better). The other night I was watching Anthony Bourdain's show and it turns out somehow Bourdain ended up in the Boll's latest flick. I guess to get in a Uwe Boll picture all you really have to do is ask. They did show a clip of Boll directing Bourdain and I did get the feeling Boll did not know what he was doing and seemed...umm...like a grouchy version of Ed Wood...but he was not wearing any women's clothing...at least not that was visible.

Now his movies might be terrible...I've never seen one or even a part of one...but the guy does make me laugh. If you work in the arts in any capacity and you have received a bad review Uwe Boll can give you some pretty good lessons on how to react. Or if you get a bad review at work maybe ask yourself, "What would Uwe Boll do?"

For example, here's an email he wrote to a critic that gave one of his films a bad review:

-----------------------

chris your review shows me only that you dont understand anything about movies and that you are a untalented wanna bee filmmaker with no balls and no understanding what POSTAL is. you dont see courage because you are nothing. and no go to your mum and fuck her ...because she cooks for you now since 30 years ..so she deserves it. people like you are the reason that independent movies have no chance anymore. uwe boll

PS: POSTAL is R RATED . The MPAA understood the satire -- you not -- you dumb fuck

-----------------------

(read more Uwe Boll email and much more about this incident here: http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/08/you-dumb-fck-uw.html )

Now, it's important to remain confident when people give you a hard time about your work as Boll does in this email:

-----------

Chris wrote that article in bad faith to damage me. His whole goal is to destroy my business. If he cannot see that scenes (for example WELFARE OFFICE, Job Interview) are genius in that movie - then there are 2 possibilities: he is dump and has no idea what movies are or he hates me and is dissappointed about his own shitty career.

He ignored also that the audience enjoyed the movie and tons of other critics LOVED it.

------------

So keep this in mind. Boll also challenged his critics to fight him...really, no joke...

and if you'd like to see Boll beat up his critics just search his name on youtube and the four fights are there...and he does beat each one fairly easily but one thing I must reveal here is Boll's moviemaking niche is he makes films based on video games...so the guys he's fighting are some pretty serious geeks...

He's no Rip Torn and I think Torn would destroy him...but I had some good laughs when I heard about all this.

For bonus Boll viewing there is a sort of My Dinner with Andre type video up on youtube where a young couple actually invites Boll over for dinner and they did tape the whole thing. I found this even stranger than the fights with the critics but in the end...for some reason...I ended up liking Uwe...he seems alright even if he does suck at making movies. How can you not love a guy that says to a video game geek he just beat up after the kid complains Boll really hurt him "It's boxing not fucking chess."

So, no politics...who is the worst director ever or worst films you've ever seen?
