Okay... Let's see... Saw Crowded House in '93, when they were on top form... Was the night before my 21st and Neil Finn asked the whole audience to "sing happy birthday to a friend of mine in the crowd"... Not me, obviously, but it felt pretty fricken cool anyway.
Saw INXS at the last show they played before going home to Aus, and, of course, Hutchence's death. I kept thinking it was the closest I was ever going to get to seeing Jim Morrison. He sang "Never Tear Us Apart" lying flat on his back on the stage, after he had collapsed there in exhaustion. It gives me goose bumps just from the memory.
Saw Roger Waters in 2002, something I never dreamt would happen here. (Which is why I still hold out hope for seeing Brooooce)
Have seen Johnny Clegg something like 30 times now... Almost every concert is clear in my memory for different reasons, but the best was being there the night in 1992 he debuted "The Crossing", for his very good friend and band mate who had been caught in the crossfire in a taxi shootout.
Saw Tracy Chapman (twice) in 1995, and I will never ever forget this small figure standing alone on the huge stage, for a second encore, singing "Amazing Grace" without any accompaniment. Not a dry eye in the house.
And yes, I have seen Mr. Sting here... Three times actually. The best was still the first time, in 1994, when David Sancious was still playing keyboards for him and the brilliant Vini Colauta was playing drums.
But my wishlist is still bigger than my ticket stub collection.
