I hope I'm wrong too. Romney has lost ground to Huckabee but mainly in Iowa. I think Romney will still win New Hampshire and he'll finish a close second in Iowa. I think Huckabee will come in fourth or fifth in New Hampshire behind Mitt, Rudy, McCain and believe it or not even behind Ron Paul...in fact McCain may finish second in New Hampshire.

The more I watch, listen, and read the more I see what looks like a pretty clear plan. I think that plan pretty much goes like this, the Republicans knew all along that Rudy had too many issues to get elected and that they would all surface in big bad ugly ways if he was their candidate. So, they let him be the front runner and take all of the abuse the front runner gets. Meanwhile, Mitt and his crew were told just get out there and win Iowa and New Hampshire and the rest will fall into place. At the same time the Republicans were looking at who they may have to run against and they had a good laugh and said if we could only run against Hillary or Obama we can win this thing. So, Republicans started donating to the Clinton and Obama campaigns and kept on saying they were running against Hillary as if the other candidates did not even exist. Hillary and Obama were also media magnets and would automatically attract a lot of attention. The one guy they really needed out of the picture was Edwards because he could beat any of the Republican candidates. They even looked for ways to spin Edwards wife having cancer against him. Disgusting? You bet, but it has worked. The only other guy they have had to worry about is Gore and that seems unlikely to happen with only days left before this gets real.

Romney has not polled well in the rest of the country but that's because they don't even know who he is and even the media has ignored him. Once he wins a couple of these things though they will start to get to know him and standing on a stage next to Hillary or Obama he's the one that will look and sound like a president to most Americans. Sure it'll be tight, same as the last few elections but Romney will squeak out the victory. Only Edwards or Gore could beat him.
