Icon another artist's impression of Lost Highway

Saw the Drive By Truckers last night. Awesome hard rocking band, but might be a tad loud for some of you. They looked the whole time like there was no place on earth they'd rather be.

After the 2+ hour show I asked them about how Lost Highway was treating them. He told me they were very happy  - their discs were being distributed to most retail outlets and they were now able to do things they never had before.

This got me to thinking - just what should the label be expected to do? Here was a band that, much like DB, got nothing but excellent reviews for their latest album. But if the album doesn't sell, how can the label justify sponsoring a big tour? The band last night was getting around in three vans, so they must be getting even less respect than NFU (seeing how they had a nice tour bus).

David mentioned before the next tour phase might have to be simply he and Will on an accoustic tour. If that's the case, then start booking the dates! That's one proven track to success - tour incessantly and slowly build up a following. Fans that feel they got their money's worth at a show are going to let others know, and will often also buy some discs.
