E, if what you said is reasonable…uh…true, and this is something that a learned portion of the commoner-hoi-polloi can spy with their own two eyes, then how is it, do you think, that those with the wherewithal have not made any obvious attempts to put an end to the ludicrous litany of misconducts by our so-called leadership? Why does it appear that enough Senators and Congresspersons have named their price and got what they asked for? Is it that “those who would be both king and captor” have assembled the laws and weapons around so villainous and ironclad a plan that anyone attempting to thwart them are/will be dealt with with a finality that is just too horrific to be faced by any mortal man, or any serious legislative committee for that matter? If so, then one would have to figure that we’re pretty much fucked, nO? & if we’re pretty much fucked, …then what’s the point of trying to intellectualize it? If our recourse is all but nil, …then there’s still hope, but if all due recourse is completely lost, …then what are we here working for? The last little gasps of vocation, escapism, art, procreation, and consumption? Is it just outa habit that we continue…or does anybody at all think the bad guys’ll finally get it in the end!?
We used to have the people-power of the petition, the protest, the occasional creative civil disobedience, but all that doesn’t really pack much of a punch anymore, does it? So what’s that leave? Huffing & puffing on the net, scratching out our disenfranchised Xs @ the polls, writing meaningful songs that speak to a select few, or making the rare poignant flick (or the lesser: the rare poignant bootleg YouTube video) that speaks to a select few more? What’s all that achieve? What was once fury and civic fire is now the entertainment that we’ve been primed to tolerate? Isn’t that really all it’s become? This question isn’t really aimed at you, exactly, but to all who ever stare in shock at the shit we get in the news every day. Will we all just go round and round about this nightmare as the cork of logic is slowly pulled free of the rabbit hole and the means for a healthy Earthbound experience dwindles ever more towards the most unhappy existence imaginable? All for sake of 1% of Earth’s population, whatever nouveau riche can hang onto their investments, & those mind boggling wing-nuts who stand-up to be counted sorrows, screaming expletives @ the intelligent ~~ ignoramuses so thickheaded with hate and false bravado that they won’t get it until it’s far too late?
Either we’re truly fucked, our children and their children facing hell on earth, OR all this is just a period of adjustment where one oligarchy run amuck will be phased-out to make room for a more reasonable oligarchy on the take? I mean, it’s just so random and dismal if all these centuries of existence, imagination, industry, craftsmanship, festivity, leisure, mathematics, science, earth science, holism, shamanism, spirituality, fine arts & music, notions of love & decency all…lead us to a finality of global fascism. I don’t buy it. I cannot. Heroics is not only for novels and song. Since the beginning, there exists a human spirit that finds a way to persevere in the face of iniquity. With all that is stacked against, I just wonder what it’s going to take? Certainly more than just The Honorable Senator Ted Kennedy, hopefully. And whoever “they” are, they’d better be wearing their Kevlar flack jackets & needle-proof body suits, because the age of ropin’ a hero & draggin’im through the Texas prairie until he names his price iz long past. This is just a rant, means nada. Sure would be a kick to hear something meaningful that doesn’t mean nada. Something that suggests a hint of a possibility for Earth to greet her caretakers again….
