Truth is, Mailer wrote some magnificent books, and lived his life with courage and originality. Personally speaking, he affected my life deeply, first with "The Naked and the Dead", then later with "The Executioner's Song" and I'm grateful to him, and will always be grateful to him for that. RIP, Norman, and may your children prosper. Rest in peace, Mr. Mailer. You done good.
