Hey Don Pedro:Your suggestion was actually what prompted me to ask about doing that partition thing, and I'm glad I did. I have no doubt that in coming months I'll be glad to have access to Vista, since Microshaft is tending in that direction. So I have it, but for now I don't really have to deal with it. That's a good thing.Did you think 200 bucks was a bunch of money for what all this cat did for me? I thought I got off really, really easy. At the outset, he restored a $2,000 laptop (not worth that in today's money, but four years ago) to life, rescuing baby pictures and other welcome artifacts from that time.Most people that I mention that 200 buck / ten hour ratio to seem to feel that a) I got a really good deal, and b) they would like this guy's phone number.:)Herring405
