Cassandra, thanks for the turn on. There's a good number of folk bands from Sweden that have a sim vibe. Traditional Swedish folk music borders on creepy. Not completely different but you or your friend might like this:

Btw, Sorry to see someone hate Sigar Ros?(kind of like hating classic Pink Flyod, Radiohead or Talk Talk, you may not understand it, but it's quite beautiful, no?) I just adore their music and most of their videos are breathtaking.
