Why would you almost hope she won? Do you feel so sorry for her that the most reasonable consolation for her embarrassment--at her own inabilities--should be to give her the title for which she doesn't meet expectations? Mediocrity and incompetence, even in a teen beauty pageant, should not be rewarded, they should be used as a signpost, a benchmark, of expectations not met so that others in the future will know to be prepared, to not to enter the colosseum if one is not up to the challenge of battling the lions.

I hate to say it, but this poor girl should be held up as an example of how low our society has fallen. IMO she is an exact replica of our current CIC, just younger, but with every bit as little "Presidential" ability. Thinking on ones feet and transferring that thought into comprehensible speech patterns should be the #1 skill for just about anyone who wants to be in any sort of leadership position. Stuttering and stammering and trying to put together buzzwords in order to make some kind of point (South Africa and Iraq????) is just reprehensible.

Sure, it's a pity that she got stuck with a question for which she could not come up with a response, and it's a pity that she will be the target of much ridicule for weeks or months to come. Most of us who have done any public speaking have at least a few washouts in our past, but remember, she chose to be in that situation, and presumably had some degree of coaching in how to respond.
