Yes. Yes I have seen...Thank You for Smoking...funny thing is I had a bit o the good green weed in me that night ~~ a rare-rare-rarity for the past decade ~~ so the poignancy of notions therein belted me harder than my ol' man ever did on one twisted manic depressant bender or some other such reason to be riled.

While we certainly show a varying of opinions about film in general (the direction that one artist may direct the tone or another) I believe I wouldn't have too difficult a time sitting through a Reg Film Festival.  Often the films you recommend reside on the gravely side of my filmgoing demeanor ~~ a side I enjoy pandering to every now and then…just to keep the fisticuffs &/or the pandemics at bay.  The dark stark reality of fiction without buttons and bells to swell & smell up the place with heady perfumes of warm wishy-washy droplets upon droplets upon rings within rings of decor & distraction, the cartoon enhancement of a daydream ~~ even if blunt force trauma is in the mix.  Much like I’ve said in the past: that we don’t watch The Crossing Guard on an escapist whim; ... it’s a purposeful plight.  & she do sting a bit…no matter how many times we take er out for a ride….

So please do keep them a comin

[to clarify a bit:  What I see in Man of the Year, as with much of Thank You for Smoking, is, more often than not, read between the lines, read into or out of the characters by the actors themselves who felt this was a project they had to join; for better ...or for worse.]
