So personally what personal rights of your's have been stomped on?
I don’t know that I would use the phrase “stomped on”. More like “eroded”. And erosion is much scarier, because it’s harder to see. It’s a lot easier to let little changes pass, because they’re just little. We don’t always see how they start to pile up. But there has been stomping, for sure. Suspension of Habeas Corpus. Warrantless Wiretaps (a new program was just ratified by Congress). Big chunks of the Patriot Act. The government not allowing media coverage of the return of KIA remains. Watching my tax dollars go to fund the wrong war. Watching the Department of Justice turn into the Department of Political Influence.
For a bit of clarity and reason read any of Michael Savages books. He may sound like an ass on radio but his writing is dead on. As far as Algore goes, I was so impressed by the recent concerts he put on, they were hysterical. Well maybe I got the wrong impression.
To be 100% honest, I’ve never paid much attention to Mr. Savage. After having doing some quick research, I must say that I’m impressed with his credentials.
From wikipedia: Michael Savage is the pseudonym of Michael Alan Weiner (born March 31, 1942), a controversial American conservative talk radio host, author, and political commentator. He holds master's degrees in medical botany and medical anthropology and earned a Ph.D. from the
So you would suggest that the anti-liberal rantings of a disgruntled former compatriot of Ginsberg and Ferlinghetti who went on to become a renowned author in the field of medical anthropology and herbal medicine are in some way more valid and insightful than the well-thought out, researched, reasonably objective, and detailed writings of a Harvard graduate (with honors) in government, who served 4 terms in the House, elected twice to the Senate, and was VP of this country for 8 years? Savage in some way has a greater handle into the problems in government and politics based on what? His 13 years of screaming at anything that smacked of Liberalism? 4 books that can’t come up with an objective tone whatsoever? An audience only slightly less rabid than Limbaugh’s? The one and only area I think I could somewhat relate to Savage is his stance on illegal immigration, but even then he is over the top. But over the top sells books and increases website hits, don’t it?
I’ll make you a deal. I’ll go a bookstore and sit down to read “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder”. If I can get through 5 pages without some unreferenced wildass claim about liberals and how they’re ruining the educational/moral/political/economic status of the country/world/universe, I’ll buy and finish it. Otherwise it goes back to the shelf. Let me know if I should bother to dig out my credit card.
Gore’s book, at least so far, hasn’t pointed a finger at a single individual, demographic, or party. Rather, he talks about the sociology and historical events that shaped the current environment of soundbites, hate speak, and flash over substance. In other words, there is a depth to Gore’s book that is entirely missing from anything I’ve ever read from O’Reilly or Coulter—and to be honest, I’ve dropped any of their books after about 2 chapters, precisely because of that lack of depth.
And to set the record straight, I’ve never considered myself much of a Gore groupie. But I’m becoming one.
