There was yet another fascinating show on On-Point radio this week. Two opposing opinions were presented as to where global population should go. In one corner was a former CIA analyst who argued that the United States and other western democracies will be seeing declining populations and how this will negatively impact aging populations that need new workers to pay social security, taxes, etc. We've gone from something like 15 workers per retiree to 3 to 1 (and it will soon be 2 to 1). The bulk of population growth is in Muslim countries.

In the other corner, was a gent from a population think tank (see link) who believes we must greatly curb growth or we'll face an environmental disaster. We're presently at 6.7 billion, and we add 80 million per year. That is adding one Germany every year. Wow!
