I watched the press conference with Rummy and Gen Myers yesterday. What a joke, but it was April 1. Myers stepped in to defend him against accusations of poor planning, and all he could say was "it's harmful to say those things". So remember, we're all supposed to just shut up and say all is well.
Then Rummy comes up, and says basically that while the battle is different than what we war gamed for, it's "like a family budget, and who ever sticks to a family budget?". Certainly not this administration, which has been spending like no ones business, driving up debts to make Ronnie Raygun proud.
Once again this war is going to come down to us not committing the right amount of ground troops. I was critical of our actions in Afghanistan because we didn't put men on the ground quickly enough, so I was initially quite hopeful in Iraq when we moved on the ground quickly. However, that was under my foolish assumption that it was our best generals making the call on troop strength, not Rummy the dummy.
