I loved and still do love Sgt.Pepper. Is it the death of the Beatles as a "Rock n' Roll" band? Aha...depends on what you define as Rock n' Roll. If R n R is just Chuck Berry type guitar twanging with simple chord riffs maybe. But ....the whole point is the Beatles (especially with Pepper) pushed the envelope of what Rock could be, and it has evolved exponentially since then as a musical form. So yes, it's not the rocking stuff they did in Hamburg for chrissake (can't believe the guy was using that as a comparison), but as a creative piece of music (and no matter how contrived and manipulated it was in the studio), it was/is a masterpiece and the first of it's kind. So for that review, the reviewer, not Sgt. Pepper must die.
As for Arcade Fire. Agree. I hate them with a passion and I can't see what the fuss was over the debut recording. I'm in the minority. Go ahead, sue me. They make me want to string up their singer by his eyelashes, then whip him and ask him to blink. They're a disgrace to my Alma Mater; McGill's darkest hour.
