Now for perhaps the idiot move of the year.   These parents got their wish.  They now won't have to worry about any "long term side effects" for their child.  vide infra:    All the details are not clear from the article, but nowadays childhood leukemia can actually be cured as in CURED with chemotherapy, especially if it is ALL (Acute Lymphocytic..the most common form) and definitely Hairy Cell Leukemia.   He was already in remission, so he probably only needed maintenance chemo which is not nearly as toxic as induction chemo (I trust he already received that, ergo the remission).   Had maintenance treatment been completed, his cancer would likely not have returned.
