Most of these human shields and protestors just hate President Bush and are using their opposition to this action as an excuse to protest against President Bush. Many protestors probably qualify for this; many don't...I believe the underlying reason most people oppose this action is political. I suppose "hate President Bush" is political. Other underlying political reasons are not as easily ridiculed: like the precedent of the US being above the UN, when convenient, when an excuse about possible future threats to the country justifies violent regime change. They just can't get past the fact that a Republican is trying to help people in need.I can't speak for them, whoever them is. Myself, I'm happy about anyone who is helped. I can't help but think of them as fortunate beneficiaries of much less altruistic machinations. My brother is diehard Democrat and he is for this war. My brother has been able to see beyond his political bent and totally supports this is just war. Believe me, it pains him to do so.What we need is a long, distracting list of people for or against the war. That makes the real discussion even more cloudy. When the subject is so serious, I find it difficult to respect the opinion of anyone who is pained about party lines and affiliations.Saddam Hussien is evil personified and brute force is the only thing that will bring him down. Criteria like "evil personified" worry me. I'm not much of a pacifist, either, but famous pacifists make compelling arguments that brute force is not the only way out...I enjoy the discussion here. I take the subject matter very seriously, as I think most posters here do. My nonmusic posts often seem much more antagonistic than they're meant to be. I too think the removal of the tyrannical Iraqi reqime should be a positive thing... I wish it could be going differently... I hope the outcome somehow leaves the world a better place...My next post will be about DB.
