I recall reading about a suit filed a few years back.  A man was killed while riding his motorcycle and his parents tried to sue the helmet manufacturers because their son was not wearing a helmet.  Their contention was safety equipment was too costly to buy and caused the son to ride helmetless.

Thrown out and denied thankfully.
