The triangles with a single dot in the middle denotes the eye of God. Surrounding these triangles are 'ladders'. Some triangles hold the passion and hope for life (red) and others hold the darkest time before dawn (black) when the souls of the dead (dukhe) were thought to travel. This design was prominent in the East Podillja Region of Ukraine (from the book "Pysanky: Icon of the Universe".
