I had several occasions over the years where I ran into Brad Delp. I was not a friend of his but living in Massachusetts it was not hard to run into the guy. He was a wonderful warm and friendly guy. I was shocked to hear of his death because on all of the occasions I saw him he always seemed in good health and never struck me as a guy with any issues...meaning yeah he was a rock 'n' roller but not an Eddie Van Halen type. I mean I think you could understand if this was Eddie but if you ever met Brad you would have never seen this coming. I was never a big Boston fan but I did see Brad with his Beatles tribute band Beatlejuice and there was no question he had a great voice and could create the impression that you were listening to John, Paul, or George. Just a beautiful voice and a very talented singer. The last time I saw him was about 2 years ago, I think, and I walked into a bar where Beatlejuice was playing thinking I'd have a beer and listen to a few songs and be on my way. I ended up listening to the whole first set. I said hi to him before I left and told him how great they sounded. Despite what you may read he did the Beatle thing for the simple reason that he loved the music and it was something he could do for the pure joy he got out of it. If you saw him with that band it was obvious that he was having a blast. I have a funny story about the first time I met him but I'll leave that for another time. Sad news, he really was a very nice guy and anyone who knew him would tell you that.
