Icon Good for the Chicks

The radio programmers who are knee-jerk dropping the Chicks now are the same geniuses who dropped them in 2000 when they put out 'Goodbye Earl' (about the gleeful murder by poison of a wife beater), which was a hit without radio support.

And they've haven't been real shy lately. There's was a smaller controversy more recently after Natalie Maines said that Toby Keith's jingoistic hit 'Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue' was ignorant but they've sold more records than him since then too.

My hunch is that the Dixie Chicks tour will be pretty much a sellout in the U.S and their album will do fine. They're not afraid to speak out honestly and a lot of country music listeners agree with them.
