I think there's some middle ground between pushing your kids too hard, and pushing them to learn to "stick to things." But I agree, Andrea, that in general it is a wonderful thing to expose our children to as many places and ideas as possible. There are almost infinite ways to make a living, and the country wouldn't work if we were all programmed into being doctors, lawyers, or academics. Hell, we wouldn't have any acerbic Baerwald music around, and that would make the world a much less interesting place.
