last week - not long after the 30th anniversary of the roe vs. wade decision - a Planned Parenthood clinic opened here in fairbanks, alaska.the local paper has been full of fairly predictable letters to the editor on both sides of the issue.i sympathize with some anti-abortion arguments, but there's nothing more annoying than self-righteous beliefs presented as logical conclusions.i do find the "viable outside the womb" approach much more levelheaded than the "life begins at conception" tack...but implying that one can't champion human rights AND abortion rights is silly. it's an opinion (shared by many) which is way too often presented as some kind of scientific truth.
