We got a little over two feet of snow here last night, I shoveled the driveway 2 and a half times - I dreamt I was shoveling the driveway with my sons' toy shovel - I was getting pissed. 2 feet in 20 hours does that to me, I guess...The word 'backbone' keeps getting bandied about - but there isn't one - maybe some of my elders here can tell me the last time there was one for the Dems that minimized opposition, and sold innovation. FDR? I think the idea of a department of peace - (previously discussed - http://tinyurl.com/3ymumq) - is amazing and what I would call a 'new' meaning of right. I think that the (R)ight has taken the 'brand' right (correct, true)for their own.The 'left' (time for a new name) aren't as unified due to their myriad interests. Dem's aren't unified unless in opposition. Why aren't they the 'united' party or the 'unity' party? If you throw the Republican party at the wall they fragment out to about two parties - christians, and trickle down businessmen. You take the Dem's - throw their base against the wall and it just shatters - like slate against a brick wall - the idea is correct - many under a common purpose (not just opposition against tyranny) - a correct but now 'unbrandable' idea. Democracy in America is growing up - for better or worse.I don't think the Democrats individually or as a party are. There's another word for that one sided 'demoncracy'.I'm going to quote a classical historian buddy of mine - 'We're literally engaged in some of the exact same battles and moral quagmires that played out during the Greek and Roman eras. If anyone's ever read Thucydides, you'll know what I mean. [this is her way of kicking me in the ass - let it go or read it]I wish our leaders studied history more. There are so many other solutions to the problems that haven't been tried yet, but it seems that yet again, we're going to go down the same old path.. even though we already know where that leads.'Keerist - not how I meant to end my day - watch this cat play...her name's Nora but this Nora might be on liquid catnip...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZ860P4iTaM&eurl=or maybe these cats...the liquid catnip rehab unit pics...http://neoncobra.blogspot.com/2007/01/shaving-cat.htmlIn closing, (the words you've been waiting for if you've read this far)...thanks and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
