I have a sneaking suspicion that TV-shows have a tremendous subconcious influence on the psyche of the American people.

I imagine Bush rising from his chair, turning off the TV, having watched "24". Turns to Rumsfeld and Cheney.

EARTH TO ALL AMERICANS Throw out your TVs. Step outside. Get some exercise. Travel (without invading) the world. Meet intersting people and foreign cultures (and try not to kill them).
