It's worse. From media accounts, it seems that Bush, Sr. tried to push GWB toward acceptance of the Baker-Hamilton recommendations, but he seems to have run away from that advice like a petulant child. For what it's worth, I think the "more troops" option he's looking at now could have worked if used from the very beginning. Clearly, not capturing and controlling ammunition sites during the early days of the war was a catastrophic mistake. Even more than GWB, Rumsfeld and Tommy Franks ought to be taken to task for this.
