It's my birthday too yeah (well Monday it was). I'm 35. The past few days have had me being predictably introspective, doesn't that usually happen on birthdays? I tried to remember what I did on my last birthday before the wheelchair. That was ten years ago. A few moments passed then I remembered. Booked a suite at a swanky hotel (The Four Seasons no less!!!), saw The Who on their mediocre "Quadrophenia" tour, then got really, really pissed at a club with friends. Pretty decent birthday party.

This year was very low key indeed. Actually The Who were here last week, I shoulda went. Instead of the "Quadrophenia" tour I could've made it the "Quadriplegic" tour.

I'm still not really sure how I feel. Friends and relatives of similar age seem to have achieved so much more than I have. Happily (or unhappily) married, some with kids, own their homes, (I'm in a shitty social housing complex), helping their aging parents with whatever they can, (My Dad had to help dress me and put me in my chair before people came over) and on, and on, blah, blah. I guess it feels like I stopped contributing, something like that. Ten years ago I just didn't picture living like I do now (who would right?)

Good news is I did get a new 80gb iPod, and will try extremely hard to fill it up with as much good music as I can (only 58gb to go) A real surprise is Sean Lennon's "Friendly Fire" If you can make yourself not compare him to his Dad you'll find a maturely written, cleverly produced album. He does have a knack for melodies and orchestration. Vocals are a bit thin even when double tracked, just like Dad (the double tracking, not thin vox). Anyone who's best friend has stolen their girl and subsequently died before being able to reconcile will relate.
