MLB.com already moved him from active players to historical. The guy pitched for eight teams since '97, getting 12-13 wins in his best years, with a career ERA of over 4.50. Definitely a solid 3rd starter.
Glad to see someone go down doing what they love.
I watched the opening of Fox' baseball coverage last night - what a pathetic sham that was. They show the field at Shea covered with a tarp and the rain pouring down, and the chlamydia bag says "perhaps it's only fitting that there will be no baseball in NY tonight". I was shocked that they didn't follow that up with "those are God's tears pouring down".
Then the studio knob Kennedy "this puts it all into perspective...Lidle blah blah blah.. baseball means nothing... Lidle.. blah blah blah.. great teammate blah blah Lidle blah.. oh yeah and some other person croaked, too."
And the promos were just right. First they echoed messybear's Faces of Death post - a dead man on a table with a baseball pennant in his hands (for some drama), and then later on baseballs smashing through NYC building windows for I guess an insurance company. They couldn't have planned 'em better in a satire.
