I just returned home from my first trip to Austin, where our man Mr. Baerwald proved elusive.  Nevertheless, I did manage to find a number of fine small venues wherein I did enjoy the live music greatly.

Now no one better write in to tell me that Baerwald and the NFU were playing just down 6th street from me!

I stopped in to listen to blues bands, geeky emo sounding bands, funk-driven bands, and the occasional soulful solo singer with guitar.  The street musicians in Austin put many of America's working musicians to shame.  I came away from Austin feeling like another visit (soon) was in order.

If you can get down there on an expense account, you'll be glad you did.

Someone here noted that if Baerwald was to be spotted, it might be wherever Will Sexton was playing.  I did discover that Sexton was set to play . . . tonight, long after my flight (and six hour drive) home.  So it was not to be.  But, as it turns out, lots of other things were . . .
