This is a really great article and exactly what I was looking for.  I'm not going to study it in depth because I know nothing about physics or engineering but at least it refutes a lot of the wilder claims of "Loose Change" and so forth.

But the one thing that still bothers me is the "cell phone calls" made from the plane.  People supposedly received phone calls from cell phones.  Is this really possible at 30,000 feet travelling 500 MPH?  "Loose Change" claims that it's simply not possible.

Have you seen anything to refute this cell phone stuff, e.g., that cell phone calls could be made in 2001 under those conditions?  I mean today, there's apparently new technology to make it possible, perhaps using some sort of cell-to-satellite system or who knows how it works, but I've heard that some airlines are considering offering cell phone service on planes.
