I'm watching the news and I'm thinking "is everyone fucking nuts?"; people are duct taping the cracks in their homes and turning in their neighbors for not looking the same as them. Meanwhile, a federal judge has denied hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers the right to march thru the streets of their own town this coming Saturday.
I can't watch the news so as usual I'm turning to music for some sense of solace in all this. My usual suspects for times like these: (in no particular order)
US Forces- Midnight Oil
Generals and Majors- XTC
Call It Democracy- Bruce Cockburn
The Call Up- Clash
Rumours of War- Billy Bragg
Short Memory- Midnight Oil
People Have the Power- Patti Smith
The Land of Plenty- Leonard Cohen
Postman- David Baerwald
Ashes to Ashes- Steve Earle
Mercenaries- John Cale
Testify- Rage Against the Machine
Anybody have any suggestions or recommendations?
