Kyle,

I didn't get to reply to your first post, as we were away in Perth. I read it upon our return and like others was moved to tears. We all take so much for granted.

Our time away was full of highs and lows, happiness and anxiety. We mainly went so that our eldest daughter could have braces fitted to her teeth (the anxiety bit). All went well and she's been very stoic, but working out what to eat is presenting a few problems. The next day was an incredible high. We saw our first AFL footy match - our beloved West Coast Eagles played the top team (Adelaide Crows) and crushed them by 82 points. We had complimentary tickets courtesy of a friend which were excellent and we were amongst a crowd of over 40 000 people. I don't think I've ever seen my husband so excited - he commented that it was the best day of his life, and then quickly corrected himself  - best day after the birth of his 2 daughters...

Where we stayed in Perth was with a friend of a friend. She is a gorgeous lady who lost her husband to cancer exactly 3 years ago. She is currently going out with a friend of ours and not sure where her future lies. She had it all - the photos of her with her husband and young son were heartbreaking to see - they were so content. It'd be like me losing John - I couldn't bear the thought. We did a lot of talking up there and it was all very emotional.

In some ways, there are similarities to your situation Kyle - life will never be the same, but for different reasons.

You know I admire you immensely - you are so positive given your circumstances. Take care - we're thinking of you!
