60 Minutes did a great story on an oil deal that the Soviet Union and France has with Iraq, but those two countries are not what I worry about. We are a country of 300 million in a world of almost 6 billion people. That is a lot of other people who might have contrary thougths about the practices of the US and we seem myopic to their thoughts. Next up is the fact we are about to do something we have not done before in such great magnitude: a premptive strike against a sovereign country. As one talking head said the other night, in our past we have been the example for the world when it comes to using our great power. Few Americans seam to realize it, but the Kuwati and Saudia Arabian PEOPLE do not like the US; their ROYAL FAMILIES do, but not the people. We pulled the royalty assess out of the fire, but not the people. This is a great illustration of how limited our perceptions are when it comes to the opinions of other countries of the US. Personally, if the US has/had credible information about any pre-emptive strike against REAL US interests, I do not see the problem with a US pre-emptive strike, but with Iraq, to me, that has not been shown. I think N. Korea and S. Arabia have done more offensive things to the US lately, than Iraq. I think Iraq is a convenient bully that those in the US Shrub War Machine are willing to put out of business for their own shallow interests.
