Went to a free screening this evening at Seattle's Experience Music Project attended by the film's director, Dick Rude, who spoke afterwards. Rude and Joe were friends for seventeen years.
Rude's film covers the last eighteen months of Joe's life on tour with the Mescaleros. The film has great concert footage (the Mescaleros were really a good band!) but most striking is Joe's personality: funny, ironic, wise, and very, very sweet with the many fans who show up to speak with him.
The DVD is available now, though if there is a screening in your town it's a pretty nice experience to share with other people who love Joe's music. I know there are several of you reading this board.
