It's true as a country we have lost our way. We simply place very little value on being intelligent. We just aren't interested. Our president is the poster boy for this predicament. There is no other nation on the planet that would see so many of its citizens cast a vote for a man who is so clearly a poor communicator. In a job where your communication skills are so central to the tasks you must perform. Combine this with his life long disinterest in world affairs (perhaps even current events) and you have a person so under qualified to be president that it's amazing that he would even be presented as a candidate. Due to these facts he comes across as a buffoon when he speaks in public and yet, as a nation, we elected him.

Ok, so the "we elected him" thing is debatable I suppose but even if a neo-con cabal stole the last two elections a boatload of people voted for him. Of that we can be certain. Sure, in these times people are so jaded and disenfranchised when it comes to politics and politicians that we vote for selfish reasons for the most part and no longer for the guy who seems a better fit for the job. I mean, we know this is the case, right?

Even Bush voters know the man is way below average when it comes to being a presidential candidate but they had other items on their checklist when entering that booth. Sure he don't speak well in our "national language" but he won't let gays marry, he won't let scientists play God, he sent out a posse after them evil terrorists, and he ain't fer killin' babies. Right...ahh...ok.

We just don't mind stupid in this country. It's acceptable, even in the highest office in the land. It's a bad thing to be an intellectual. You're a snob if you speak over people's heads like that. You think you're better than everyone else if you're bright.

Oh yeah, and if you have high ideals and notions for an America that are based in what our founding fathers once espoused...well then you're just not living in reality. Fuck what guys like Abe Lincoln said. You want a guy that gets things done not some clown that makes pretty speeches.

What's that ya say? Abe freed the slaves? Something about the Civil War...yeah well what's he done for us lately?
