That's always been a favorite lyric of mine. The harmonies by Sammy Llanes (of the BoDeans) make that song even more powerful.
That was such a great time for music and musicians. Terrific production, great lyricists, etc. I fondly look back at all of the work that Daniel Lanois was involved in, as well as the "Wilbury" work that came out (Harrison, Petty, Dylan, the Wilbs, and even Lynne himself) over a few short years, and the re-birth of Brian Wilson, and the mid-late 80's were just a fantastic time to be a fan of good music.
Thanks to DB for being a part of it. Boomtown was my introduction to a contemporary world of rock that was serious without pretention, and proved that my generation was more than ready to carry on from the last.
