Distortion eh? Perhaps you can point out which parts of my post are not factually correct.
As regards the brave boys of 1916, they directly caused a large number of civilian deaths, not to mention wrecking much of Dublin city centre, struck a mighty blow for Irish Marxism and were jeered and spat at by their fellow countrymen and women when arrested. Staging an armed insurrection in the middle of the first world war was foolhardy to say the least, and had they been thrown into prison rather than being executed over a protracted period, they would be merely an embaressing footnote in history. The brave men of 1916 were those who went to fight in the trenches, whether for Britain or an imminent Irish republic, but apparently these weren't the 'right type of martyrs.'
