They have nothing to do with music, for the most part.   So many  choices, especially in the pop and rock categories seem political.   U2????   Mariah Carey???    Kanye West??   I didn't watch it, I never do, but I do read about who got what. 

Glad to see Dave Holland Big Band got something for one of his CD's.

Emerson String Quartet grabbed 2, in the Classical section, I forget for what right now, but I've got to check it out.  They play so exquisitely it's nearly painful that anything can sound that perfect. I've got their Shostakovitch string Quartets that came out a few years ago.

Turtle Island String Quartet got something also.  Used to love those guys.  If you get a chance, see them in concert.  They put on a great show.  The cellist can pop and slap the strings, gets harmonics....he's a wizard.

Wayne Shorter's new group got a Jazz something or other.  I always like his work, but the new thing just didn't grab me.  I hated it.
