That Ferlinghetti sure could riff, man; ...& for a cat with such Aunt Bee tones.
Dug your analogy, db, ...got nothing more to add.

Except perhaps a retread...that, I don't know, foreshadowed the present a bit:

Got to know this ol’ cat & his much younger bride, what a hottie ~ the bride that is, at the director’s rap party after a very good play I crewed on...for it’s sold-out Community Theatre run in NoName, USA. This guy’s got several beguilingly plotted “indy” films he’s canned-&-shelved over the years...that, while listening to him pitch synopsis, got the fool’s-gears spinnin’ and stuff. Make a long story short. It’s not just rare but desolate in possibility that an aged actor/screenwriter, with sketchy acquaintances on the left coast... one would know to hear their names, would say: Come over next week and we’ll screen these and see if you dig anything there; ...perhaps together we can toss’em back on the fire and see if they burn clean. So on Saturday I learned that some of what we dug about the under-the-radar creative roll of la is unknown in a rusty little nook out here in NoName, 400some miles from the apple core, ...and just waiting to be toiled-over until exhausted and nearly beaten by the mockingly commercial futility of it all....
...To the temple...again, yep....
