I was not so much suppressing critique as applying one point-of-view

That being that the kid plays a mean guitar.  You get right down to it,

I can’t listen all the way through any of his albums.  Although, it seems a

mighty flock of  young ladies can, unless he busses them all in and pays

them to swoon & cry to the tunes. I think it was the phrase, “He has

overstayed his fifteen minutes,” that piqued my retort mechanism.

I stretched and gessoed  the canvasses of a noted ... abstract

oil painter years ago in SoCal.  &, although I didn’t really

like looking at half of what she painted, I could never

take one iota away from the hours and layers and

blood, sweat and tears she put into those heavy

heavy opaque & visceral lead based creations

So every layer of gesso meant the world to me,

at the time, ..and I took a look around the studio

every morning to see what I had missed yesterday

Often enough I would notice a subtle something that

changed my perspective about a painting I didn’t think

much of the night before while shooting pool with her &

her cadre of sporty-chic freestyle gal-pals on a whim....

I simply value th’ best effort of an artist for what it is.

& one can argue that there is NO shortage of...

rather formless sorts hanging around town

pointing-out the flaws in waters they,

themselves, ...have not swum in

But that’s all just colorful
