The sad part is that I once saw a reporter (maybe Tom Brokaw?) follow Bush for a day at the White House. This was when Bush said, "I'm a war president" etc. The reporter asked Bush what he thought the history books would say about his presidency and he basically said that he'd be dead anyway... That said a lot to me about how he viewed things at the time, maybe still - that is, that his view, like a lot of corporate interests, is what happens now, in the next quarter, in the next year, and who cares about 25-50-100 years from now. Except that the debt created under this administration will cripple generations to come, and that we've been sold out to interests not entirely our own.
