Davitt was and is a jolly bon vivant of a man. Erudite, owlish, witty and kind. We realy lucked out with him, as we hadnt the faintest idea really of what a record producer was supposed to do. The reason we picked him was that he ordered a hamburger with peanut butter and pineapple, and ate it with seeming relish. That seemed as good a reason as any at the time. He produced a few records after Boomtown, and then became a record executive, and then a novelist. I talk to him at least once a month, and consider him one of my good friends. He's based in New York, so we don't get to see each other as much as I'd like, though that may change next year. Wonderful teddy bear of a man.
