>The point is you can never change welfare mentality by feeding >it more money. FEMA should probably have some checks and >balances in that monitored what these people were using the >money for. Unmonitored we see the result.
The point is, this is a national emergency and American Citizens are hurting. This is a time when you put aside your views on the abuses of the system and lend a hand to those in dire need.
There are people that were hurt in this crisis who had jobs, who had health care and it was all washed away. It's a time when we should extend a hand up ( not a hand out in *This* case ) to the hard hit in this land.
I came home at lunch yesterday and ,as usual ,I turned on C-Span so that I could watch your fellow Republicrats shoot down desperately needed funding for our citizens who are needing it most. They don't want to help the people who will be desperate for heat this winter, they don't want to implement a plan to help people with Medicade assistance, a temporary plan that WAS implemented to help people in NYC after 9-11.
Today they will attempt, and probably succeed, in carving monies out of these and other programs at a time when Americans need it most but they wont give an inch on the tax cuts for those who don't need it.
You guys keep saying ( a favorite "talking points line" ) that the dems aren't bringing forth any ideas, well, I see them doing just that on C-span everyday. ( A true No Spin Zone )
If my tax dollars are going to a few misguided folks who abuse the system, fine, it is a much better proposition then throwing my tax dollars at the follies of this administration, throwing my tax dollars "Up" the ladder instead of down.
